That follows reports that the Packers on Wednesday offered Favre a substantial sum of money -- as much as $20 million over several years -- to stay retired.

Jun 24, 2014 6:17 AM

The Cowboys remain interested in trading for QB Chris Simms if the Bucs will lower their asking price of a midround draft pick. The Cowboys are believed to have communicated their interest in May but the Bucs have insisted on a third- or fourth-round pick. Simms has taken limited or no reps in seven-on-seven and team drills since starter Jeff Garcia arrived in training camp Monday. "I understand the situation," Simms said Tuesday. "I don't know what the plan is, but I understand the situation."

Favre Threatening To Show Up This Week

Oct 12, 2014 5:32 AM

Brett Favre is giving the Packers until Tuesday or Wednesday to work out a trade, or he will report to their training camp. A source close to Favre confirmed reports on SI.com and ESPN.com that Favre planned to report to the Packers? training camp Sunday but that General Manager Ted Thompson asked whether he?d wait a couple days to see whether he could make a trade to resolve the impasse. ?He doesn?t want to be a distraction to the guys,? the source close to Favre said, ?but no matter what he does it will be a distraction. The last thing he wants is to hurt the guys, but if he wants to play he has to start practicing.?

Could Cowboys Trade For Simms?

Jul 26, 2014 5:11 PM

The Cowboys could try to deal for disgruntled Buccaneers' quarterback Chris Simms if they aren't comfortable with veteran Brad Johnson backing up Tony Romo, according to The Star-Telegram. There have been reports that Simms has told friends that he would like the chance to play for Dallas. For the time-being, though, the team appears content with Johnson as the primary reserve. "Brad is a smart veteran who knows exactly what to do and how to prepare for any kind of situation," Cowboys' quarterback coach Wade Wilson said during the team?s minicamp back in June. "There isn?t a situation he hasn?t been in before."
